On the Campaign Trail with Mac MacArthur
One Sparse Turnout... and One Simple Question
by Mac MacArthur

Monday, Sept. 19, 2000 -- CHICAGO (AmpolNS) -- Here are a few facts about a recent and telling Bush campaign event. You should ask yourself one question after you consider what happened -- along with a few other relevant facts.

There was a veterans' rally in support of BushBaby in Springfield, the capitol of the state of Illinois, yesterday. Adrian "Good Morning Vietnam" Cronauer, the legendary DJ who shook up Saigon's Armed Forces airwaves with the Stones, the Who, and late 60s hard rock, and a popular "superstar" among Vietnam vets, was the keynote celebrity stumping for Bush, who is scheduled to be in Illinois later this week.

According to reports posted to Internet message boards, the event drew only about thirty vets.

Thirty. Think about that. The person who posted one of the most detailed accounts of the event reported that a Bush campaign official said that the Cronauer event was a "last minute situation" -- which, when you think of how well veterans and the Republican party are organized, is still sub-pathetic.

But then, Bush has done nothing but antagonize the RNC in Washington, choosing to let the Pappy-Rove-Holmes-Cheney Amateur Hour run the show. One Republican official I know described the Bush campaign as "out of control."

Which should come as no surprise.

George W. spent 45 years of his life as a drunk, coked-up, cheating brat playboy who would likely have flunked out of every school he attended but for Daddy's and Granddaddy's genetic powers to force those schools to pass him. He must have, on a consistent basis, abused his wife and daughters when he lay in a drunken stupor. Things were so bad that Pappy Bush had to buy him a baseball team putting up and in the $700,000.00 W. needed. Then W. unethically -- and most likely illegally -- manipulated the people of Texas to pay for a new stadium for his little ball club, which he promptly sold for a 2500% profit.

Then there is Harken Energy -- his company -- a public company that raped investors and went under. Guess who sold his stock just before the announcements were made about Harken? That's right -- George DumbBellYou himself. The SEC let him get away with it. Why? Because his Daddy was President, and his family are oil men and bankers. Anyone else would be in Club Fed. Read the SEC reports yourself -- which were released just last week.

Did you see that on the tube? No. Why? The media wants to keep this presidential election a "horse race."

Now, here's the question to consider:

Why would any American -- Republican or Democrat, Independent or Green -- even CONSIDER this man as worthy to hold the highest and most powerful office on earth?
