Joseph Ellis Gets Nailed, Usurper Boy Gets Coddled!

Monday, June 18, 2001 -- SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA (APJP) -- Check out this excerpt from an AP story that broke earlier today:
Report questions Pulitzer winner Joseph Ellis
June 18, 2001 | SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (AP) -- A Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer who has said he spent time in Vietnam during the war while in the Army never went overseas, according to a published report.
Mount Holyoke College professor Joseph J. Ellis, who won a 2001 Pulitzer for history for his book, "Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation," also embellished his involvement in the antiwar and civil rights movements, The Boston Globe reported Monday.
The Globe did not question the historical integrity of Ellis' books.
The newspaper reviewed public records and interviewed some of Ellis' friends and colleagues.
Interesting! The Boston Globe has exposed a Pulitzer-Prize-winning author on Vietnam as a liar.
This will, of course, be all over the network TV news programs, broadcast and cable -- as it rightly should be, no matter what -- since the author in question is a noted antiwar activist.
Meanwhile, there was another, equally well-researched, Boston Globe expose concerning another prominent person who lied his ass off about his Vietnam involvement: but that expose, done back in May of last year, received minimal coverage in the mainstream press, and almost no coverage in the broadcast media, which is where most Americans get their news. This is despite the fact that Martin Heldt, an independent researcher in Clinton, Iowa, uncovered documents that backed the Globe's coverage.
The difference: Last year's Boston Globe expose concerned George W. Bush.
Instead of rushing to condemn him, the way the media is rushing to condemn Mr. Ellis, Mr. Bush was coddled and protected from inquiry.
Two different liars...
two similar lies...
two vastly different treatments...
...now, what was this again about the alleged "liberal media"?
