Re: John Fund

You forgot to mention the police report filed by Morgan against her live-in lover.

Or are documented charges of domestic assault by Republican commentators somehow less newsworthy than Matt Drudge's baseless accusation of same leveled against Sid Blumenthal?

Sincerely,

Tamara Baker

Re: Oil in them thar 'Glades!

I was reading my state paper yesterday (Newark Star Ledger) and saw an item about the Bush posse searching for oil in Florida (in the Everglades, I think). Of course, it was buried on some page no one reads. I guess Bush is trying to spoil the wilderness any way he can, even ripping apart his own brother's state for his oil cronies.

Too bad Enron is taking up so much of the news' time. Not that they're reporting the really good stuff, anyway!

I couldn't believe that Bush choked on a pretzel and fell off the sofa...what a moron in chief! Remember when Clinton was visiting Greg Norman and hurt his leg? Remember how the press went after Clinton, saying maybe he was drinking too much? A friend of mine said she'd have more respect for George if Laura had given him that shiner! Too bad we'll never know if Georgie had had a spot of ale when he fell off the wagon...um, couch.

And speaking of the happy couple, have you noticed how you can't look at a magazine rack without seeing either one or both of their leering faces? Gag me with a spoon! You know, if Bill or Hillary had done the same thing they would have been scolded for trying to "use September 11 as a publicity stunt". What I want to know is where Barbara and Jenna are. Are they hidden along with Cheney? Never to be seen again? They weren't even at the September 14 memorial services. What are the Bushes afraid of? More humiliation over their daughters' pranks?

It's a wonderful to know our Resident is such a great parent.

Re: Clinton recession - yeah, right - and Al's ammo

It's Clinton's recession? Bush and Cheney "talked down" the economy, lying about it. Greenspan raised interest rates, the Saudis hiked oil prices, Enron raised prices especially in California all trying to help Bush, and it took a bit longer to cool off the economy than they thought. Still, Clinton and Gore did everything they could to maintain fiscal health and consumer confidence -- that's all an administration can do.

Now, even with Greenspan slashing interest rates, and OPEC and Enron unable to raise rates and prices any more, Bush's economy is still in free fall. Why? His huge irresponsible and unfair tax policies squandered our surplus and shattered our fiscal situation.

"Trickle Down" never works. Never. Tom Daschle and Ted Kennedy explained this in great detail. The media spinners mock them, demanding Democrats call for a "tax increase," but this is a Bush mess. Why should Democrats bail him out?

Let Bush take the blame. I'd love to see Al Gore go after Bush, now that the unelected AWOL drunk driving moron has a record to defend. Al Gore can say the following all through the 2004 campaign:

"Remember in 2000 when I said my opponent's tax cuts for the top wealthiest would squander the surplus? I was right.

"Remember in 2000 when I said my opponent's friends in the oil business would rip off Americans and he would try to let them get away with it? I was right.

"Remember in 2000 when I said my opponent wouldn't be able to maintain our peace and prosperity? I was right.

"Remember in 2000 when I said my opponent's claims that our military was weak were untrue? I was right.

"Remember in 2000 when I said my opponent's policies would hurt the environment, working families, and more? I was right.

"Remember when I led a commission which suggested a dozen ways to keep our airlines safer? I was right.

"Remember in 2000 when my opponent said I was using "fuzzy math" when I exposed his tax plans as frauds and giveaways to the most wealthy? He was lying.

"Remember in 2000 when my opponent said he had a better way to help seniors afford medicine? He was lying.

"Remember in 2000 when my opponent said he was compassionate? He was lying.

"Remember in 2000 when my opponent said he trusted the people? He was lying.

"Because when the people elected me, he sued the people."

No one else can make this kind of pointed and convincing attack on Bush.
