Clinton's "Lies" vs. GOP Crimes
By Mike Hersh

Feb. 27, 2002 (Political Sanity/APJP) -- The rabid right wing investigated President Clinton for 10 years (and counting...) and all the witch hunters have to show are a litany of non-lies about irrelevant matters in a frivolous, sham lawsuit itself funded by right wingers as a partisan dirty trick.

That's right.

Clinton's "lies" were factually true according to the weird definitions presented him. The judge in the "Payola" Jones lawsuit deemed the questions about Lewinsky irrelevant. The entire lawsuit was eventually thrown out.

From 1980 to date, the Republicans have only nominated for the presidency men who lied under oath and cheated on their wives.

These men -- Ronald Reagan, George H. Bush, Bob Dole and George W. Bush -- lied under oath about serious matters which went directly to the heart of legal proceedings: Reagan and Bush I about Iran Contra, Dole about a race track license scheme for which one of his top aids went to prison, and Bush II about Funeralgate.

In addition, top Clinton hunters Newt Gingrich, Tom DeLay and Bob Barr also lied under oath.

Gingrich, a deadbeat dad who abandoned his first wife and two young daughters without enough money to cover food or to the electric bill, was cheating on his second wife with a federally-paid congressional aide at the height of the Monica Lewinsky non-scandal.  Newt was also cited for ethics violations for illegally diverting funds from a children's charity to his GOPAC slush fund and lying about it under oath. The same lame-duck House that called Clinton's actions "high crimes" elected Gingrich Speaker!

The Bush-Cheney Regime is now stonewalling because they committed crimes in Enrongate. They also broke the law in Florida -- and elsewhere -- to steal the 2000 presidential election. They left America open to attack by telling the FBI and CIA to "back off" their investigation and surveillance of known terrorists -- after encouraging our enemies by claiming our military was "not ready for duty, sir."

The right wingers still whine about Clinton, but ignore these Republican crime waves. So much for justice, morality, or the rule of law.
