Finding Liberals on the Radio!
Today's Featured Liberal -- Johnny Wendell
by Tamara Baker

Jan. 6, 2003 -- Saint Paul MN (APJP) -- The weekend has been good for me. MWO's (http://www.mediawhoresonline.com) back from vacation, and I've just found out about this really good new website, TakeBackTheMedia.com.

The name says it all.

TBTM's site is very well organized, and quite professional in appearance.

A sidebar on the front page gives a long list of worthy liberal radio personalities: Mike Malloy, Randi Rhodes, Peter Werbe, and many, many others.

However, there's one name that's missing from their lists, probably because he's a new guy in the radio world.

That name is KFI-AM's Johnny Wendell, who can be heard from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm every Sunday -- and every so often, during the weekday afternoon drive-time as well.

KFI is one of the largest talk-radio stations, if not THE largest, in the country. It reaches tens of millions of people. And Johnny Wendell now has access to its microphones, and its bully pulpit, and is using them with great effectiveness.

It's a pleasure to fire up the ol' Internet and surf over to KFI's web site on Sunday afternoons, because Johnny knows how to work a crowd. His voice is the perfect timbre for radio, and he's sharp and coherent, even when -- or especially when -- giving the heave-ho to annoying callers. He keeps the show light and snappy, even as he deals with the most serious of topics, yet he never fumbles or fudges facts. His standards are higher than most mainstream reporters, yet he slides the medicine down with a smile.

Check him out. You'll like him.
