To show there are no hard feelings, we should all send Bush a bag of pretzels.

I understand he likes them so much he practically inhales them.

Re.: The agenda

I'm from California.

WE did not, as a majority, vote Republican.

I want to keep it that way. Especially now.

I believe the best plan of attack is that EVERY progressive force in EVERY state must get cracking on generating bigger numbers in their states. Who better to talk to people from Alabama than the people of Alabama... and so on.

Got it?

Mr. MacCauliffe and Mr. Reid, you guys owe us big time for our time and dollar investment. We will hold the Democratic leaders accountable. Give us some LEADERSHIP in the House and Senate -- AND locally and by state!

Frankly, Daschle was a pussy and many of you guys and gals are. We demand that you do not lose your backbone.

We will be watching.

Again, we as the progressive constituency, will be watching, acting, voting and cutting ties with poor representation.

And you guys had better get your platform clear. Hints:
Civil rights
Social reform all around
Protection of Medicare
Better jobs
... how about MORE jobs?

There's a start.

Re: How could America let this happen?
Date: 11/6/04

I read Nicola Mitchell's article, "How could America let this happen? Say It Ain't So!"

I'm an American, although not very proud of it right now, and I'm baffled myself. But here are my thoughts.

First, I blame the media. It seems none of the broadcast networks report the truth and none ask the hard questions. Mr. Bush, what is your family's relationship with the Saudi royal family and the bin Laden family? Is it strictly investments, like oil and military weapons? Is it true that since World War II, the US has invaded about 40 countries in order to "create democracies" and that not one of them are democracies today? Let's talk about our external imperialism and our internal fascism.

Then there's the religious nutcases. Many Bush supporters said they voted for him because of his moral values. Are we on the same planet? What kind of moral values allow the invasion of a country and the murder of over 100,000 of their citizens? One that wants to create a democracy? Hardly. It's greed. It's big business. The president opens his mouth and lies pour out and they lap it up without question.

Then there is the lack of discussion of important issues: fair trade, fair wages, health care, Social Security, conservation.

A ban on gay marriages? Why don't we get a federal ban on divorce? That's biblical, right?

Then there are the voting machines. One county in Ohio reported that in a precinct of a little over 600 people, over 3,000 voted for Bush. Reports of voting "errors" are popping up over the country.

In spite of the appearance of voting fraud, nearly half the "unspoiled" votes were for John Kerry.

We too feel trapped in the same old nightmare.
