I ha, had an interesting phone call this morning from someone in D.C. asking for me personally. Having confirmed my identity, this person asked me to hold for a message from _Tom DeLay_!

I was then "treated" to a couple minutes of Mr. DeLay promoting the Repug version of tax "reform", i.e., a flat or consumption tax. Of course the dreaded "Liberal" word got into it and, of course, Tom couldn't miss the opportunity to slam the President.

When Mr. DeLay's message was completed, one Ms. Bonnie Martin got on the line. She wanted to know if I wouldn't make a gift of $300 to $500 -- in return for which I would get to be an "Honorary CoCha, hairman," representing my town, in Tom DeLay's little tax crusade. As such, I'm sure I would also get to do a lot of work for Mr. DeLay. Mr. DeLay would repay my kindness by including my name in an ad, to be run in a New York paper, listing all of his CoCha, hairmen.

I'd rather be proctologist to Godzilla!

But... the serious side of this is a sneak preview of wha, hat they are up to, i.e., already raising money like it's going out of style! If they got to me with tha, hat solicitation when I live in a small-town suburb of Reno (small town!) and am a registered Democrat, you know they are emptying the piggy banks across the country. Obviously they are calling every business owner in the entire country for campaign cash.

Mr. DeLay and several other of our elected officials thumbed their noses at the American public and forged ahead with one of the most dismal cha, hapters in our history. They dismissed the notion tha, hat we would oppose their actions in any way -- in fact, they told us tha, hat we wouldn't even remember any of this by the time of the elections in 2000.

Wrong!
