American Politics Journal is coming to newsstands!

Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999 -- Washington, D.C. (AmpolNS)
The publisher of American Politics Journal (Ampol) announced today that the company would begin publishing Ampol in hard copy, available for subscription in December 1999 and to hit the newsstands in January 2000.

American Politics Journal Publications, Inc. — which owns American Politics Journal and Republican Notes on the Web — is also changing it editorial policy to mock the "new" mainstream media into telling the truth.

Managing Editor Mac MacArthur says the parody magazine will engage in "All invective, all the time, to underscore the state of American and some Western European media today."

The print magazine's banner slogan is "Strictly Ad Hominem Attack Editorial for Your Amusement"

MacArthur, a former lobbyist and authority on commercial politics and polling, says that the combination of print and Net access is the winning combination for the millennium, pointing to the success of the Wall Street Journal and WSJ Interactive, one of the only winning publishing ventures on the net.

"We're no longer interested in reporting news — even with a twist," said MacArthur, "We're going to give our print readers side-splitting content which looks at America through the cynical eyeglasses of intellect."

Ampol on the Net already gets 30 million hits a year and has never spent a dime on marketing or advertising. The Internet version does not take advertising but relies on non-tax-deductible contributions from its readers.  It also owns its commercial web site hosted by IBM which features hundreds of outlandish bumper stickers, pins and tee shirts for Election 2000.

"It's time not only to laugh at ourselves, but to take down mainstream journalists who pretend to be reporters rather than clones of much better writers from the National Inquirer," MacArthur added.

Although MacArthur has no direct control of editorial in any Ampol publication,  he does set the tone for its policy.

Ampol has recently added one of the best political cartoonists on earth — Gogue! — whose drawings have become Ampol's most popular feature.

The November sample cover of the Ampol-In-Print Issue features a "photo" of Ken Starr, dressed in hunting fatigues, proudly posing with a machine gun and a 50- pound "turkey" that bears an eerie resemblance to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

MacArthur plans a cover for January titled "Novakcula!" - presumably a hit on Robert Novak, television's answer to "blood sucking ultra consrvatism" says MacArthur.

American Politics Journal will accept advertising in its print magazine.  Rate cards are available through adrates@americanpolitics.com

In an announcement page on Thursday's Net version, MacArthur, editor, writes directly to his Net readers:

Loyal Readers:

    Don't worry.

Nothing's changed at www.americanpolitics.com, but we are proud to announce that American Politics Journal is now available by subscription -- in printed, hard copy form -- including far more features, cartoons, interviews and parody pages that will entertain and amuse you for a liftime.

Dave "Doctor" Gonzo, Chris Gelken, David Corn, Tamara Baker and the rest of our regular columnists will appear in the printed magazine American Politics Journal.  Plus, we are adding other columnists who will make you nauseous with laughter as they go after American mavens of tech, banking, finance and communications.

American Politics is also changing its editorial strategy. You already get plenty of lies from the mainstream media -- and we are going to "add" to them, but we are also going to attack those lies and attack the men and their enabling publishers, networks and sponsors who, we think, are paying their bills with hidden agendas.

From now on Ampol will be a  strictly unfair magazine of extraordinary ad hominem attack on everything and everyone who is guilty of being an ass in America.

Nothing is sacred -- not even Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell or his mother.

Some trusted consulting editors of the new mag say "...it's funnier than Mad or the Harvard Lampoon ever was -- more intelligent, and more on point than any political and commercial commentary we've seen in a long time."

Join us, 12 months a year, for a most hilarious look at ourselves as Americans, our government, our elected officials, the media, captains of industry, whores of Wall Street, and the American judicial system.

Follow the life of Warren Buffet learning everything we know about his sex life. Watch Donald Trump make a fool of himself once again as he runs for President from one of seventy thousand Trump Eyesore Buildings in Manhattan.  Look at the New York Times for what it truly is - an instrument of unfettered capitalist power.

Read our investigative report on Tim Russert, Matt Drudge, Brit Hume, Sam Donaldson, John McLaughlin, George Will, Jim Lehrer, Tom Brokaw, and all those pompous and privileged jerks at 60 Minutes. Of course Cockie Roberts as "Ask Answergirl" and "Dratt Mudge" delve into their smellier orifices and hidden talents.

Learn how corporations learn to own the congress -- in riotous detail.

Take a close look at the American judicial system -- which creates Beelzebubs like Ken Starr, Susan Webber Wright, John Whitehead and David Schippers.  Laugh with us at the convoluted and crackhead opinions of the Supreme Court, especially Justice "Long Dong" Thomas and "Tony the Pigeon" Scalia.

And last, but not least, follow us as we invade the 2000 Political Conventions. You'll  stay riveted to our Election 2000 coverage.

Our first print edition is getting its final touches now.  It will be printed with a four-color cover and recycled paper all around because it's cheaper - not to please Ralph Nader.

Advertisers: get aboard today.  You can contact Liz or Gene at Ampol display advertising at 212.501.9150 in New York.

Readers, subscribe today for the ultimately very collectible American Politics Journal.  We are offering our readers on the web and all subscribers through the end of 1999 a discount from the normal $60.00-a-year subscription rate:  If you subscribe between November 19th and December 31st you can get American Politics Journal delivered to your door for $29.95 a year -- more than 50% of the news stand price!

Thanks to all of you who've made this possible.
