Jeff Koopersmith on the man who puts the "vice" in vice presidential candidate, specifically his love for plans that destroy the nation;s safety nets/ Paul Ryan, hoping to become our Vice President – or at least set himself up as a contender for President in 2016 following the end of Barack Obama’s two terms – shone luminously to all the foolish guys and gals representing the Republican Tea Party this past Wednesday. The tea party loves him because he’s such a dazzling liar as are most of them as they strain to convince us that they are non-aligned by party preference and only have the best intentions – for international business giants and the lowest paid workforce that can found – anywhere on earth. Unfortunately Mr. Ryan, although a brilliant speaker is also a brilliant thespian and if the average viewer – all few hundred of them – had a scintilla of knowledge re that which he spoke – they would call him The Fabricator in Chief. Allow me to list what can be only be called lies just in Ryan’s single speech at the hilarious and totally failed Republican Convention in God-Drenched and Winded Tampa, Florida.
Mr. Ryan, in truth, would exchange Medicare for a voucher system. The government would no longer help pay major medical costs. Instead older Americans would get a token – probably from Groupon – that one could apply to the cost of his or her open-heart surgery. If Ryan had his way, this might be a coupon worth $500, toward a $28 thousand (and up) procedure. Ryan also lies when he tells you that private insurance companies will do much better than Medicare for elder Americans because of some fantasy about the mysterious operations of the “Market”. Wow. I guess Mr. Ryan has never learned that Medicare does far better controlling costs now than the constantly rate-raising private insurers do, so they can be feted by doctors and hospitals in great luxury. Free markets, my ass. And remember – coupons would not go to America’s younger generation. They will be phased out totally over time in order to fund more drones to kill more innocent people in places you’ve never been to nor heard of or to promote higher salaries and bonuses on Wall Street. I won’t mention the colossal changes in drug coverage that Ryan’s plans from his elimination of “ObamaCare”. The infamous “doughnut hole” will be back in spades and seniors will be back to eating cat food in order to pay a larger share. And do not believe Ryan’s other lie that everyone over a certain age will not be impacted for the anguish he has planned for our children. Just imagine someone born a year later then the cutoff date for current Medicare coverage? Can you say Riot! It is time for American voters to wake up and start paying attention to Ryan and Romney’s plans to save America and realize these are plans to destroy the safety nets that the law provides now for the very reason that lawmakers long ago could imagine – uprisings. Have we not witnessed them when the cities burned some sixty years ago for other reasons similar? Romney and Ryan – are two slippery tongued actors preaching to a choir of moronic right wing zealots too stupid to realize it is they who will pay the price – unless of call they believe in the Disney-like fantasy that we all can create our own small businesses and then hire a bunch of people to run them. Tell that to Mr. Romney who took on the wonderful mantle of STAPLES which (or who) put tens of thousands of truly small businesses on the street that we called “stationary stores” back in the day. How many jobs; how many stores closed; and how many billions have been spent on gasoline to get us to Staples where we might find a business envelope for sale? Paul Ryan is a slick liar for hire, and he and his ilk have destroyed the Republican Party and mocked the Constitution with the antics and prevarication.* *(For Tea Party members) Pre-vare-uh-kay-shun: “an assertion made by a person who has lied or who lies repeatedly” |
